AI trading journal

The journal, its statistics and one AI trade score a day are free. No card needed. For education and record-keeping, not investment advice.

What the journal does, and what it doesn’t

It does

  • Keep every plan, fill, stop, target and note in one record
  • Work out R, expectancy, drawdown and your patterns by setup
  • Grade each trade against your own rules, win or lose

It doesn’t

  • Connect to your brokerage account or place orders
  • Tell you what to buy or sell, or score a trade by its profit
  • Predict results: past statistics are a record, not a forecast

Plan, log and import trades Free

Stocks and ETFs, long or short, with several entries and exits when you scale in or out, and fees. Each trade shows its P&L after fees, planned reward-to-risk, realised R multiple and risk as a share of your account.

  • Plan before the entry

Save the planned entry, stop, targets, system, setup and thesis before the order fills, then add the fill to the plan. A plan written before the entry counts as the plan in the AI score.

  • Import broker CSV files

Presets for Interactive Brokers (Activity Statement and Flex Query), Charles Schwab, Fidelity and Robinhood; any other broker’s CSV through a one-time column mapping that is remembered. The file is read in your browser and trades already in the journal are skipped.

  • Your own weekly review

Write down what went well, what went wrong, the lessons, next week’s focus and whether you followed your rules.

AI trade score Free

Free: 1 a day. Tools: 10 a day. Pro: 30 a day.

Claude, Anthropic’s AI model, grades one closed trade out of 100 against your own system’s rules: the plan written before the entry, how well the setup fit, the entry, the stop and the position size, the management and the discipline. The numbers are computed by Clear Tape from your trade, your balance and the actual daily prices; the AI judges and explains. P&L is never scored, so a losing trade that followed the plan can score well and a winning trade without a stop cannot.

Who it’s for Traders who want honest feedback on their process rather than on their luck.

Lesson: write the exit reason when you close before the target.

AI period review Tools

Tools: 2 a week. Pro: 7 a week. Not on the free plan.

Choose a week, a month or any range of closed trades. Claude reads the period’s statistics, computed by Clear Tape, and writes what the numbers say, the recurring patterns, how closely the rules were followed, how consistent the risk was, and three points to focus on next. The review is kept in your journal. It never recommends buying, selling or holding anything.

Who it’s for Traders who review weekly or monthly and want the patterns pulled out of their records.

Your records

  • Clear Tape never connects to a brokerage account: it holds only what you enter or upload, and a CSV file is read in your browser.
  • Only when you ask for a score or a review, that trade’s or that period’s records, your notes on them, your balance and your system’s rules go to Anthropic to write it, without your email address or name.
  • The journal is visible only to you. Export it as CSV or JSON, or delete it, at any time.

Questions

Is the trading journal free?

Yes. Planning and logging trades, the broker CSV import, every statistic and your own weekly review are free on every plan, with one AI trade score a day. Tools ($30 a month or $288 a year) raises the AI score to 10 a day and adds 2 AI period reviews a week; Pro ($49 a month or $468 a year) allows 30 scores a day and 7 reviews a week. Prices are before applicable taxes.

Does the AI score judge whether a trade made money?

No. It grades the process: whether a plan was written before the entry, whether the trade fit your system, the entry, the stop and the size, how the trade was managed and whether the rules were kept. The P&L is shown apart and never scored, so a well-executed loss can score higher than a lucky win.

Which brokers can I import from?

There are presets for Interactive Brokers (Activity Statement and Flex Query), Charles Schwab, Fidelity and Robinhood. Any other broker’s CSV export works through a column mapping you set once; the journal remembers it. Stocks and ETFs are supported; options are not yet.

Who can see my journal?

Only you. Nothing is shared with other members. When you request an AI score or review, the records it needs go to Anthropic without your email address or name; Anthropic doesn’t use them to train its models.

Is the AI feedback investment advice?

No. The score and the review describe how past trades were planned and executed against your own rules. They don’t recommend buying, selling or holding anything, and Clear Tape isn’t a licensed investment adviser.
